Congress party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi will hold a digital meeting with several prominent opposition leaders of the country on Friday as part of an exercise of opposition solidarity. The Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand can also attend this meeting. Sources say that Sonia Gandhi is trying to surround the government by taking the opposition parties along on the major issues facing the country and this meeting has been called under this effort.

The opposition parties are trying to unite at the national level to take on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to present a tough challenge from the opposition in the next Lok Sabha elections. The recently concluded monsoon session of Parliament witnessed opposition unity against the government on the issues of Pegasus spying controversy, farmers’ agitation and inflation.
