To enhance the skills of the students in the government schools of Uttarakhand, now courses related to skill development will also be started. In the first phase as a pilot project, eight vocational courses will be started in 200 government schools from the current session (2021-22). Along with school education, this effort is being made for skill development among the students.
Efforts are being made for a long time to enhance the skills of the students through various mediums including Skill India. Taking a step further in this direction, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan has started working on skill development during school education itself. Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan with the help of Vision India Service Private Limited has taken the initiative to start vocational courses for the students of government schools of the state.
Students of class IX and X will get the benefit of this. In the first phase of this pilot project, eight courses will be started in 200 schools of the state. These include schools in 61 plains and 139 hill districts. The company will also set up a related course lab in the selected school. The school will provide room for the lab, but the company will provide the complete machinery and toolkit. If the pilot project is successful, these courses will also start in other schools of the state.
80 hours of field training

In the two-year vocational course, students will not only be taught theory but will also be given field training. There will be 80 hours of field training, consisting of ninth and tenth, in which training will be given by taking students to the industry related to the respective course. The special thing is that after the vocational course, the students who are willing to do the job, will be provided after the consent of their parents.
Marks will be added in board result

There will also be written and practical tests to check the proficiency of the students during the training of the vocational course. In which 30 marks of written test, 50 marks of practical and 20 marks will be of internal assessment. To encourage vocational courses, Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Ramnagar Board has also given special exemption to the students. During the tenth board, if a student gets less marks in any main subject and more marks in vocational course, then its result will be prepared by adding the marks of vocational course.
