Uttarakhand elections: Make someone a member of Congress after investigation, party afraid of ‘infiltration’ in membership campaign:

Assembly elections are to be held in Uttarakhand next year. In view of this, small parties including big parties like Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party are also active. The main opposition party of the state Congress is preparing to enter the election fray next year with claims of change of power. Along with attacking the ruling party BJP, Congress is strengthening its organization. For this, membership drive is going on vigorously in the state. But during this campaign, if any supporter or worker of the opposition party should infiltrate the party, the Congress is also afraid of it. Therefore, in the meeting of Dehradun Metropolitan Committee in the past, the workers were advised to be alert.
Uttarakhand Congress Membership Campaign Committee President Rajendra Singh Bhandari advised the party workers to avoid agents of opposition parties. During the meeting of the Dehradun Congress Committee, he asked the workers to take the photo and mobile number of any person whom he makes a member of the party. Enter the picture and number of that person on the membership slip, so that no one can infiltrate the Congress. According to the report of the daily newspaper Hindustan published from Dehradun, Bhandari told all the Congress councilors, former candidates, block presidents who attended this meeting that only those who have allegiance in the Congress, should make them members of the party.
It is worth noting that many months before the assembly elections, the politics in Uttarakhand is at its peak. Especially, this time the atmosphere is getting more heat due to the arrival of Aam Aadmi Party in the election fray and making quick announcements. This is the reason that both the old parties active in the state, Congress and BJP, are constantly trying to strengthen their land and organization. The leaders of the main opposition party Congress are hopeful that there may be a change of power in the state next year, for which the party is further strengthening its hold across the state. Opposition parties should not infiltrate in this campaign, so the chairman of the membership campaign committee has advised the party leaders and workers to investigate and join the Congress and avoid conflagration.
