Rishikesh-Dehradun Highway: Jakhan river again showed fierce form, more than half of the alternate route shed, photos ..

The Jakhan river once again showed its fierce form on Tuesday morning at Ranipokhari on the Rishikesh-Dehradun road. Recently, due to the collapse of the motor bridge on the river, there was a problem of traffic on the highway, while now more than 300 meters of the alternate route were also washed away due to heavy rains.
The vehicular traffic started on this alternate route only on Sunday evening. Due to the alternate route, the traffic pressure has increased once again on the Rishikesh-Haridwar highway. In such a situation, now vehicles will have to cover additional distance between Rishikesh, Ranipokhari, Haridwar and Dehradun. Also, you may have to deal with traffic jams on the road.

On August 27, two parts of the bridge over the Jakhan river in Ranipokhari collapsed. Immediately, the District Magistrate had issued special permission under the Disaster Act for the construction of alternate routes in the river, change of stream and flood protection work.

On Sunday, a raw alternative route was prepared and opened for vehicular movement, but after rain in the mountains, a large part of the alternate route at the end of Jollygrant side was washed away in the river flood on Tuesday morning.
