Rapid action on Duggar buses, Transport Department swung into action when the secretary entered the field:
When Transport Secretary Dr. Ranjit Sinha himself reached ISBT to take action on the buses running by evading the tax of the Transport Department in Uttarakhand, the Transport Department also swung into action. After the displeasure of the secretary, on Saturday, the transport enforcement teams took swift action on the Daggamar buses. Nine Daggamar deluxe and sleeper buses were seized within just two hours of checking done in Doon and Haridwar in the evening. These buses were running for Delhi and Agra including Jaipur, Aligarh, Lucknow and Kanpur etc.
Roadways and private buses from outside states are costing Uttarakhand crores of rupees in tax annually. In this case, the Transport Secretary had inspected Dehradun ISBT on Friday and expressed displeasure over the operation of Daggamar buses from around the ISBT. After his warning, on Saturday, RTO enforcement Sandeep Saini ordered Doon, Haridwar, Rishikesh and Roorkee ARTOs to take action against dagger vehicles.
In this sequence, the teams took swift steps and seized nine such buses in Doon, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Online ticket booking was also being done against the rules in these buses. Arbitrary fare was charged from the passengers. They also created a ruckus when the transport teams landed the passengers. However, later roadways buses were called and passengers were dispatched. Along with the transport department, the roadways team also accompanied in checking.
