Now only 20 days are left for the Doon Municipal Corporation to get the 20 percent exemption given in the building tax annually. In such a situation, the corporation has increased the camps by intensifying the tax collection campaign. Releasing the new schedule of tax collection camps in the wards, the places have been fixed till September 27. On Friday, Rs 2.81 lakh was deposited by the corporation in the camp set up in the Aryanagar Shiv temple.
Due to the loss incurred in the building tax during the Corona period, the Municipal Corporation has fixed September 30 as the deadline for 20 percent annual exemption this time. Every year, a rebate of 20 percent is given to the public by the corporation administration to those who deposit the building tax on time. In bygone years, the last limit was earlier fixed as December 31, but later it was raised.
Assembly elections are to be held this time and the model code of conduct is expected to be imposed after November. In such a situation, the corporation will not be able to increase the exemption limit. On this, Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama had ordered to expedite tax collection and set up recovery camps in the wards. In this sequence, the tax section has released a new schedule of the camp. The special thing is that in the camp any member of the surrounding ward can deposit the building tax. The camp will be held from 11 am to 3 pm.
