Doon-Mussoorie highway closed due to landslide, many tourist vehicles stuck:
Due to incessant rains in Uttarakhand, many roads including the National Highway have been closed. Heavy rains continue in Dehradun and surrounding areas. The Dehradun-Mussoorie Highway made a landslide around 8.30 pm on Sunday night. Due to the landslide, heavy debris came on the road due to which the Dehradun-Mussoorie highway was closed. Vehicles of many tourists going to Mussoorie are stuck here. At present, two JCBs are continuously working to clear the debris from the road.
Apart from this, 210 roads of the state, which were closed due to rain, could not be opened even on Sunday. Due to this common people are facing problems across the state. Incessant rains in many parts of the state are hampering the road opening work. Two national highways, five state highways, seven main roads are still closed in the state. Hari Om Sharma, Chief Engineer of LNV said that a total of 103 roads of LNV are closed across the state. Whereas 107 roads are rural roads which come under PMGSY and other divisions. He said that 337 JCB machines have been deployed to open the closed roads.
