Dehradun Crime News: Man sentenced to eight years in prison for raping minor in Doiwala:
Dehradun Crime News The court of Special Judge (POCSO) Meena Deupa has convicted the accused in the case of assault and rape of a minor and sentenced him to eight years’ imprisonment. A fine of Rs 30,000 has also been imposed on him. Out of this amount, the court has ordered to pay Rs 20,000 as compensation to the victim. In default of payment of fine, the convict will have to undergo an additional imprisonment of six months.
Assistant District Government Advocate (criminal) BS Negi said that the incident took place on November 5, 2018 in Doiwala area. The complaint was lodged by the victim’s maternal grandmother on the same day at Doiwala Kotwali. It was told that the 17-year-old victim was taken to her house by her friend. The victim’s friend Junaid was already present there. After sometime three friends of Junaid also reached the spot with alcohol. After this Junaid and Sake friends drank alcohol. The victim was also forced to drink alcohol.
After the victim was drunk, Junaid raped her. He was beaten up for protesting. After Junaid was released from the clutches, the teenager reached home and told her past to the grandmother. In this case, on November 6, 2018, the police had registered a case against Junaid on charges of assault and rape. The accused was arrested after medical confirmation of rape. The court gave its verdict in this case on Tuesday.
