Bank accounts of Education Department will be opened afresh in SBI:
To promote Digital India and to make the system of budget released to the departments transparent, now the payment of budget in education will be done online. For this, the education department has started an exercise. Under which the bank accounts of all the schools, diets and other units in the district will be opened afresh in the State Bank of India (SBI). From these new accounts, the budget will be released through online medium. The department has a week’s time for this.
State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Banshidhar Tiwari has issued letters to the Chief Education Officers and District Project Officers of all the districts and directed them to close all the old accounts. He has given instructions to open zero balance accounts in SBI afresh in the districts. New accounts have to be registered in PFMS under UK 207 scheme code. Money could not be spent in the old accounts till now, after closing the account, it will have to be deposited in the name of the central bank opened in Dehradun through DD. At the district level, BRC, CRC, KGBV, DIET, residential school and all other schools and units of education department will have to open a new account. At the same time, there are instructions to give information about the accounts that are opened and closed every day to the District Project Office. The district level officers will make this information available to the state level officers every day.
