Abhishek Banerjee and his wife has been summoned by ED.
Kolkata: Aug 28. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering and coal scam case, summoned the Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary and nephew of Mamata Banerjee the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Abhishek Banerjee and his wife.
In an event held on Saturday 28 August, in Kalighat, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that “when the BJP government in Delhi cannot compete with us in politics, they use agencies.” Directly aiming at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In a statement Abhishek Banerjee, said “BJP thinks it can put pressure on us using ED. But we shall emerge stronger.” Mr. Abhishek Banerjee is scheduled to appear before ED on 6th September, and his wife miss Rujira Banerjee has to appear on 1st September.
The West Bengal Coal Scam is worth Rs. 20,000 crores, was the case involves the illegal mining and smuggling of coal across the bordering state of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand, with the help of government officials and politicians allegedly.
The CBI registered an FIR against Anup Majhi and his deputy Joydeb Mondol, In November 2020, who are allegedly central to the entire operation.
