There is hardly any need to tell about how important Aadhar Card is in our life today.  From filing income tax returns to opening a bank account, admitting a child, Aadhaar has been made mandatory at all places. That is why it becomes necessary that you keep every detail present in your Aadhar card updated, failing which you may have to pay damages as well as many of your important work may also get stuck.  Along with this, if you have more than one Aadhaar number then you can get stuck badly.  In such a situation, if the details related to name, address, date of birth or gender have been written wrong in your Aadhaar, then you should get it corrected immediately.  Failure to do so may result in heavy losses.  In view of this, today we are telling you how you can rectify the mistakes made in your Aadhaar sitting at home, or update the old information present in your Aadhaar.

To update Aadhaar, keep these documents with you:

To update Aadhaar card online, keep the mobile number with which your Aadhaar is linked, as OTP will be sent to the mobile number during updation.  Explain that you can update your name, address, gender, date of birth, mobile number and email address online. 

For other changes, you will have to visit the Aadhaar Enrollment Center.


In the process of making changes in Aadhaar, first of all go to the Self Service Update Portal of Aadhaar.
Enter your Aadhar Number here.  After this you will get a one time password on the registered mobile number.  After this, login with OTP and go to the update portal.
After that click on the button ‘Data Update Request’ given above.  After that select the option which you want to update/improve.  You can update all the options if you want.  After selecting the option aadhar update form will open.  Here you can modify the information according to your need.  Here name and address information will be updated in Hindi as well as in English.
After this, re-check the new information given by you.  Once the verification is complete, click on Submit Update Request.
You will also need to provide documents related to the information you want to edit.  No documents are required to make changes in email id, mobile number and gender.  But for change in name, date of birth and address, you will have to provide documents related to it.  These documents are valid – Passport, PAN Card, Ration / PDS Photo Card, Voter ID and Driving License etc.
After updating the information you have to submit it.  After this, you will have the update request number on your screen, from which you can track your request status.
